Obituary of Sharon Porter

Sharon Deloris Porter, age 74, passed away Dec 7th after a long illness, surrounded by family. She was born in Baker County, Florida to the late Ernest Elbert Bryant and Leafie Ola Mann. Sharon graduated from Baker County High School in 1959. She spent much of her working life at USF&G insurance, in management and as an underwriter. In 1991 she retired from USF&G and began working for Demetree Insurance. She retired as Vice President in 2008. Sharon spent her years surrounded by friends and family. She was voted most beautiful at her high school and was always known as a beautiful daughter, wife, mother and friend. She loved animals, photography, music, Gator football and basketball and spending time with her family. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Elbert and Leafie Ola Mann Bryant; her brothers, Millard, Mabry, Everett and Johnnie Bryant; and her sisters, Ernestine Barrett, Pauline Moates, and Myrtle Plair.



Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Thomas Porter of Jacksonville, FL; children, C. Michael Porter, Pamela Porter Spargur (Kevin) of Jacksonville, and Susan Porter DeVane (Todd) of Fernandina Beach, brothers, Randall (Alief) Bryant, Franklin (Vanna) Bryant, Leroy (Gladys) Bryant; her sisters, RosaLee (Roy) Nelson, and Katie Parsons, 8 grandchildren - Jeff, Alex, Courtney, Amber, Brandon, Cameron, Josh and John, and 4 great-grandchildren - Jaedyn, Jayce, Roman and Maddox, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Arlington Baptist Church, 6009 Arlington Rd, Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m with Dr. Eddie Lockamy officiating. Interment will be held at a private ceremony at a later date. The family will receive friends and family at 10:00 a.m in the sanctuary prior to the service. The arrangements are under the care and direction of Arlington Park Funeral Home 6920 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32211.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society, The American Cancer Society and Wolfson Children's Hospital.
