Irene Smith

June 17, 1920 - September 5, 2016


Born on June 17, 1920, in North Tonawanda, New York, Irene Smith grew up in a large close-knit family,
Irene had 6 brothers (one who died in childhood) and two sisters. During World War ll, she worked in a factory building airplanes, becoming one of the women who were known as "Rosie the Riveter". After the war, Irene went to work at the local Remington Rand factory. She worked there until moving to Jacksonville in June, 1966.
In Jacksonville, she spent a few years involved in child care before going to work at Regency Square Woolworth's store, where she worked for many years.
She is survived by one son, Danny and many nieces and nephews.
